The expansion of the shopping center Costa Marbella in Puerto Banus is about to be legalized, after ten years.
The shopping center El Corte Ingles built between 2004 and 2005 out its shopping centers in Puerto Banus, without respecting the city plan. This led to the added Interim Board handed the largest fine in Marbella municipality for building violation, totaling 14.6 million Euros.
The cure is the estimated value of the expansion, which is now, however, counted down by the provincial court in Malaga to 11.1 million Euros. El Corte Ingles is one of Spain’s largest companies with 96,000 employees and company El Corte Inglés is expected in the coming days to pay 25 percent of the new infrastructure through the fine and compensation to the Marbella municipality finally legalizes their situation.

After having spent four nights in jail interrogated the suspected masterminds in the latest corruption scandal “Operación Punica” and then sent directly to prison in Soto del Real, without bail. Partido Popular former Deputy Regional President and former mayor of Valdemoro is considered the leading bribery scandal.
A total of 51 people, most of them related to the Popular Party are involved in the latest crackdown “Operación Punica” in which, among other things, four mayors suspects. They are accused of taking paid illegal kickbacks and bribes.
The scandal affects about 250 million euros in public commissions in municipalities in four different autonomous regions. The suspects’ bribes money is much lower than in many other scandals, but this has aroused strong feelings especially when going for the past two years, ie during the crisis.
