The noose around the corrupt Catalonia family Pujol tightened

After 84-year-old former head of government and his eldest son, Jordi Pujol y Ferrusola, earlier this year was accused of tax fraud, is now time for his youngest son.

Policia Nacional struck eight o’clock in the morning against Oleguer Pujol residence in Barcelona and his four corporate offices in Madrid, Valencia and Melilla in Spain. Crawls lasted eight hours and a large amount of documents and computers were seized.

Oleguer Pujol Ferrusola is Jordi Pujol seventh child and suspected to be the one who managed the family’s hidden fortune. He has been involved in numerous multi-million Euros transactions, including the purchase and subsequent lease of more than 1,100 bank branches to Banco Santander. He is also under investigation for having received 7.5 million Euros in bribes for offering Catalonia government contracts to various companies.

Investigative Judge Santiago Pedraz now have to find out where Oleguer Pujol Ferrusola received hundreds of millions of Euros to buy bank locals across Spain, including a hotel in the Canary Islands, several properties in Palma and properties Marbella.

Oleguer Pujol sister Marta, who is an architect, received at least seven public works projects from the Catalonia government when it was led by her father.

It has also become known that the eldest brother Jordi Pujol Ferrusola moved 2.2 million Euros from a bank in Andorra to Mexico, after he was suspected of tax evasion. The Attorney General stated in connection with the interrogation no reason to require bail or custodial measures.

It has also emerged that the family has used several methods to avoid the police and the prosecutor’s investigations against them.

They had even installed a Smartphone application that erases all deleted files from a computer and sends them to another remote server.

The arrest comes at a time when there are two weeks into a non-binding referendum on Catalonia independence.

Revelations of further irregularities in the influential Pujol family is believed to damage the reputation of Catalonia and in particular the belief in the Catalonia nationalist party.

Jordi Pujol, who ruled Catalonia for 23 years, is considered one of the founders of the modern nationalist movement. He is also suspected of money laundering and tax fraud.
